How to get help

If you need help from our foodbank there are a few simple steps to follow.

The most important step is to reach out if you need support.

1. Get in touch with us.

If you call or email the friendly volunteers at our foodbank and we can discuss what support you need and the best way to provide this to you.

2. Contact a referral agency.

We work closely with local agencies to provide holistic support to foodbank clients. Local referral agencies can include schools, children’s centres and social workers. If they think you require support from the foodbank, they can issue you with an electronic foodbank voucher.

If you are not able to contact a referral agency, please call the Help Through Hardship helpline on 0808 2082138 for free (open Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm) to talk confidentially with a trained Citizens Advice adviser. They can help address your crises and provide support to maximise your income, help you navigate the benefits system, and identify any additional grants you could be entitled to. If needed, they’ll issue you with a voucher so you can get a food parcel from us.

If you do not feel able to contact either a referral agency or the Help Through Hardship helpline, please give us a call as we may be able to support you directly.

3. Come along to our Distribution Centre on Barleyfields Road, Wetherby

You can find our opening times here. When you arrive, we’ll welcome you with a warm drink and our trained volunteers will chat with you about your situation. We’ll also discuss any dietary needs you may have and exchange your foodbank voucher for a parcel of three days of emergency food. We’ll also help to support you in any other ways that we can. Our aim is to provide non-judgemental support at the point of crisis.

If you are unable to attend our Distribution Centre, for whatever reason, we may be able to deliver your food parcel to you. Please mention to your referral agency if you require a delivery, or call and discuss it with us directly.

If you have any further questions our FAQ’s page may help, or feel free to give us a call. Our warm and welcoming volunteers are happy to support anyone in need within our community.
