Give Help

Volunteer

Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.

Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis.

WAREHOUSE VOLUNTEER

Our warehouse volunteers help to weigh, sort and store donated food in our warehouse. Our teams of volunteers work hard to make sure the food we have been donated is organised by type and date, which means we can ensure donations are used in good time.

VOLUNTEER DRIVER

Our volunteer drivers are essential to the foodbank in several ways:

  1. They collect food donated at our permanent collection points in supermarkets, and deliver it to our warehouse for sorting.
  2. They deliver food parcels to foodbank users who are unable to attend our distribution centre.
  3. They delivery any surplus food to our partner charities in the local area.

DISTRIBUTION CENTRE VOLUNTEERS

Our distribution centre volunteers work at the forefront of the foodbank, meeting our clients when they visit to collect food parcels. This is an incredibly important role as these volunteers are the ‘face’ of the foodbank. You will meet clients in our informal, cafe style centre and have a chat over a cup of tea. All our distribution centre volunteers are specially trained to equip them with the skills needed to discuss our clients’ situations, and give advice signpost to further support, as well as giving them their food parcels.

FUNDRAISING VOLUNTEERS

As a small, independent charity we rely on the donations we receive from our local community. We are fortunate to be based in a very generous community, but we are always in need of help to raise funds to ensure the important work of the foodbank continues. This could be working behind the scenes to prepare for events, or attending fairs and similar community events to represent the foodbank on our stall.

If you are interested in helping the foodbank in any of these ways, please click HERE to find out our current vacancies and to apply online. We look forward to hearing from you!
