Trussell Trust Report: State of Hunger 2

14th May 2021

Yesterday, the Trussell Trust released their latest report, State of Hunger 2021. You may have well seen some of the findings published in the national press.

This research is a follow-up to the most authoritative piece of independent research into hunger in the UK to date. Commissioned by the Trussell Trust and conducted by Heriot-Watt University, the study sheds light on the groups of people across the UK who are disproportionately affected by hunger and the drivers behind food bank use.

The research shows that people forced to use foodbanks – just like ours – at the start of the pandemic were facing extreme poverty, with just £248 a month to survive on after housing costs. The ‘State of Hunger 2’ report delves deeper and provides vital information on what needs to change in our society and why. You can find out more on the Trussell Trust’s website.

If you can, please take the time to read some of the findings. Most of us are only ever a few pay cheques away from financial insecurity and this situation has to change.

Thank you.
