Saturday Drop-in Sessions

20th September 2022

We now run drop-in sessions every Saturday between 10:30am and 12:30pm at our Barleyfields Distribution Centre on Barleyfields Road, in Wetherby. These new sessions are in response to the current cost of living crisis and the subsequent increase in need for our services. Saturday sessions also make our foodbank more accessible to those who are in work but struggling to make ends meet.

Distribution Centre Coordinator, Debbie Marriot explained:
“As the word spreads, the new Saturday drop-in sessions are becoming increasingly busy. It’s worth reminding everyone that our session start slightly later on Saturdays, at 10:30am but also finishes slightly later too, at 12:30pm. With the colder weather coming, we really want to avoid people arriving too early and having to wait outside.”

Whether you’ve used the foodbank before or not, if you’re struggling to afford food please ring the helpline on 08082 082138 or speak to a referral agent (there is a list of referral agents, here). They can issue you with a foodbank voucher which can then be exchanged for one of our emergency food parcels. Please let the call handler or referral agent know if you’re unable to collect your food parcel as our volunteers are able to deliver if needed. The helpline is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Please remember that our foodbank covers a wide area and you don’t have to live in Wetherby to receive a food parcel from us! Our district reaches to outer Leeds, south of Tadcaster, up towards Harrogate, Boroughbridge and across to the edge of York. If in doubt, ask. If we can’t help, we will know which foodbank can. If you have any questions, please drop in and speak to one of our volunteers.
