We are delighted to announce that Wetherby’s Community Cafe and Advice Hub will be celebrating it’s First Anniversary later this month! To celebrate, we are holding a ‘Birthday Party’ after our regular session at St James’ Church Rooms, on Friday 23rd October from midday till 1:30pm. Everyone is invited!
We are immensely proud of what our team of cafe volunteers and partners has achieved. The Cafe and Advice Hub was established and funded by the Foodbank to provide a welcoming social space open to ALL residents of Wetherby and surrounding villages with access to a range of FREE advice, free refreshments, activities for children and a chance to chat.
The Community Cafes in both Wetherby and Tadcaster are one way in which our Foodbank is trying to go little deeper into the many reasons why someone might be experiencing financial instability. If people can be helped to stabilise their financial situation before they need emergency food, then they may never need to use a foodbank at all. Establishing the Community Cafes has meant that more people can access the kind of help and advice they need, when they need it.
Every week our dedicated Citizens’ Advice expert is there to provide confidential one-to-one advice. In addition, there is a rolling calendar of representatives from a range of different organisations and groups available to offer a wide range of advice and support. Uniquely, this advice is available to EVERYONE, not just foodbank users.
Attendance at the Cafe has grown steadily over the last twelve months and it’s been great to see so many people making use of the free advice available while having a chat, cuppa and enjoying the friendly atmosphere.
Thank you to all our partners who provide such a comprehensive range of advice and support, thank you also to everyone who has come along to the cafe, had a cuppa and supported us. We hope to see you all there to celebrate on the 23rd October!
