Thank you to everyone who came along to the social event at The Barn. It’s really important that the difference our volunteers make is acknowledged and also that they get to meet people from different teams and build a bigger picture of our foodbank’s work. Volunteers are a charity’s best advocates!
The social was a lovely opportunity to wish Jenny farewell and to welcome Hayley, our new coordinator. Jenny achieved tremendous things during her time with us, broadening awareness of what we do with schools across the area; running networking events with agencies and other organisations who can help support our clients and anyone who is struggling; and helping to establish the two Community Cafes. It was great to hear an update from her in person and have the chance to thank her for all her hard work. Thank you, Jenny and we wish you well in your new travel venture!
It was also wonderful to meet Hayley and hear about her plans for the foodbank. Hayley’s background in marketing means she brings an in-depth understanding with regards to the importance of communication. For us, this means both reaching the people who might need our help but also reaching the people and organisations who may be able to support us, financially or otherwise. She underlined just how important the role of volunteers can be in spreading the word about what we do, especially about the new Community Cafes. The voices of our volunteers and supporters, as well as your social media ‘likes’ and ‘shares’ are incredibly valuable in spreading the word!
Thank you to volunteer Chris Gibson for providing the delicious homemade soups and to Morrisons for supplying the sandwiches, cakes and fruit.
