Poster Competition!

5th January 2022

Calling all local primary schools!

We want to enlist the help of local primary school children to create some posters for our foodbank. We’re keen to make sure that firstly, local people know we are here and are able to help; and secondly, that anyone in our community who would like to help us, knows the best way to do so.

Spreading the word is key to everything we do so we’re calling for all the primary schools in the area to get involved!

If your school would like to take part, please email us by the middle of January on [email protected]

Here are a few details:

  • We’re asking pupils to design posters which best show how the community can give help to their local Foodbank (i.e. volunteering or donating food), OR how those struggling to afford food can access help from the Foodbank.
  • The competition will open on the 14th of February 2022, with entries accepted until the 31st of March 2022.
  •  Winners will be announced the week commencing 4th of April 2022, with a winning entry and two runners up being chosen from each school.
  • The winning entries will receive a prize and their posters will be used in and around the local area to advertise the Foodbank and raise awareness in the community.

We will be circulating more information and marketing materials for the competition later this month.

How can local businesses help?

If you are a local business who would like to sponsor or donate a prize, please get in touch! We’ve already had some very generous promises from a number of local retailers and businesses which is brilliant.

Remember…

Two questions lie at the heart of our foodbank:

  1. Do the people who NEED our help know we are here and how to contact us?
  2. Do those who want to GIVE help know the best way to go about it?

We think the creativity of local children will help answer both these questions brilliantly. In the process, we also hope to get people talking about how no one is immune from experiencing hardship and how, as a community, we can best help each other.

Thank you, and a Happy New Year from us all at Wetherby and District Foodbank.

UPDATE: 11/04/22

Firstly, thank you to everyone who entered the competition – we’ve been incredibly impressed with the entries we’ve received so far! We just wanted to let you all know that we haven’t quite managed to collect every single entry yet, so will be announcing the winners a little later than planned. We will let you know the results as soon as we can. Thank you!
