Wetherby Community Cafe Celebrates 1st Anniversary!

We had a fantastic time celebrating Wetherby Community Cafe’s first anniversary last week!

Thank you to everyone who stayed on after the usual Friday cafe session to help us eat the cake and celebrate – including cafe visitors, cafe partners, volunteers and community workers such as our local PCSO Lil, Tesco Community Champion Eloise and Councillor Norma Harrington.

Following a speech from Trustee David Bowen, we had cake, plenty of chat and a raffle full of fabulous prizes generously donated by local businesses including Gymphobics, Paul’s Barber Shop, Urban Union Barbers, Mirror Mirror Hair Salon, Memphis Belle Beauty Salon and Tesco Extra at Clifton Moor.

We also had the opportunity to thank Tesco Community Champion Eloise before she moves on to a new career. Eloise and Tesco have been a huge support to our foodbank recently, providing hundreds of picnic and goodie bags for our stall at Wetherby Market, as well as collecting donations in-store.

The Cafe’s continued success is testament to the hard work of our Foodbank volunteers, our trustees, Foodbank Coordinator Hayley Dodsworth and the foodbank team, along with the successful collaboration with our many participating partners, in particular, Citizens’ Advice who are there with free advice every week.

We are very proud of what our team of cafe volunteers and partners has achieved. The Cafe and Advice Hub was established and funded by the Foodbank to provide a welcoming social space open to ALL residents of Wetherby and surrounding villages with access to a range of FREE advice, free refreshments, activities for children and a chance to chat. You can read more about what the cafe does here.

Wetherby Community Cafe and Advice Hub is open every Friday 10am till midday at St James’ Church Room, Church Street, Wetherby.
